NGC Tops Out at Hyatt Place Hotel in Colorado Springs

NGC would like to acknowledge a Top Out Event achievement! A wonderful warm thank you goes out to all the trades and crews at Hyatt Place Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs for completing its structural steel milestone. The red, NGC-logoed beam was adorned with over 100 signatures, an NGC flag and the US flag. The final beam ascended seven stories to be commemoratively placed atop the building’s frame via NGC’s crane on a chilly December 3rd day. NGC hosted a Top Out celebration on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 with a Chick-fil-A hot box luncheon for crews and local officials from the city and key team members from the Hyatt Place Hotel. Watch Chick-fil-A’s inspirational ‘Spark Hope and Light’ video here.

NGC’s Project Manager Scott Meinke co-hosted the event with NGC Senior Superintendent Tony Pinkelman, NGC Project Engineer Griffin Thomas and NGC Director of Organizational Development Lindsey Klug. Scott addressed the group, and spoke of NGC’s gratitude for the continuous support from many sources, “NGC would like to thank our smart-working crews and iron workers for making this Top Out party happen. The City of Colorado Springs, AAA Development, PPRBD officials and the Urban Renewal Authority have contributed resources, time and solutions to keep this project moving along swiftly and safely over the past several months. We appreciate your efforts.”

Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers added how the area’s development is progressing, and is one of the most resilient in the country, “I think the people in Colorado Springs have really stepped up. They’re supporting businesses the best they can…” Read the full KOAA News5 article here.

Avik Amin, of AAA Hotel Developers shared his pride regarding his plans for Hyatt Place coming to fruition. The 120-room hotel on the corner of East 201 Kiowa Street and North Nevada Avenue is due to open Fall of 2021. This beautiful hotel will have a first floor of Mixed-Use commercial space, with the pool, bar and lounge located on the second floor. Read the full Gazette article here. Jariah Walker, Executive Director of Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority, a major streamlining contributor to the project, attended as well.

The Hyatt Place construction is unique in its precision workspace lot lines; NGC is building the hotel within inches of its maximum site perimeter, and due to the tight configuration, ingenious methods to manage material deliveries and lay-down logistics is very imperative. The teams will continue to finish framing, with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), HVAC and FF&E slated to begin now and finish by Fall. View the KOAA News5 video here.
