NGC Group attended NSC (National Safety Council) – Nebraska Chapter’s Celebration of Safety on May 19, 2021 to learn more about Workplace Safety, Mental Health Awareness, 2021 Safest Companies’ Award Recipients and to listen to guest speaker Candace Carnahan and her story.

NSC shared their 37th annual celebration of safety ceremony online virtually. Dozens of member companies were recognized with a 2021 Safest Company Award for having higher than national safety ratings in varying years/categories and for implementing superior safety programs; Congratulations to amazing organizations from Crete Trucking to Metropolitan Community College. Eric and Susan hosted the presentation. We saluted all who have served the United States with silence during our national anthem, and we gave moments of silence to those who have fallen during workplace accidents. Companies becoming stronger with more safety protocols during the pandemic were recognized. NSC encourages everyone to visit NEDrivingConcern.org to reduce traffic fatalities. Candance explains how a 4 cm conveyor gap was enough to grab hold of her, how long 3 seconds really felt before the STOP button was hit, how machines ‘don’t care’, how “EVERYONE” becomes deeply affected by an accident and how common complacency habits can mix with invincible immortality. Candace quoted double amputee Harold Russell for saying, “It is not what you have lost but what you have left that counts” as a key motivator in her finding happiness. Her story will touch your heart, resonate with you and empower you to become a practitioner of gratitude and safety.
